Community impact

A hundred years of plots, foodbank deliveries and Saturday teas in one Nottinghamshire parish.

The trust touches a small slice of Mansfield, deeply rather than widely. This page lays out, in plain numbers and named partners, how that work shows up in the community.

An open-day tea and cake stall at the front gate of the Carr Bank site, with hand-lettered signs and bunting.

Where the work lands

A parish-shaped impact, not a national one.

We measure ourselves in plots let, kilos delivered, hours given, and metres of hedge laid. The figures below come from our 2024–25 reporting year unless otherwise noted.

Places we work in

Two allotment sites, one parish hall, a small handful of local partners.

Our area of benefit is the ancient parish of Mansfield as it stood in 1916. The four named places below cover almost everything we do.

Site · 84 plots

Carr Bank

Our main site, on land let to the trust by Mansfield District Council on a peppercorn ground rent. Open at all hours; tool library and central storage shed on site.

Site · 52 plots

Pelham Street

A smaller, older site behind the old library, in the centre of the parish. Mostly half-plots, popular with first-time tenants who want to walk to their plot.

Office

Westgate Parish Hall

The upper room is our trustees' meeting place and the tenancy office. Hired by the hour, paid for in cash from the running budget.

Delivery point

The Beacon Project · Stockwell Gate

The Mansfield foodbank that takes our Common Plot produce each Friday from July to first frost, on average 34 weeks of the year.

A short register of our partners

Mostly local, mostly small, and almost all of them work for nothing.

Belong to it, even from afar

If you grew up in the parish and live further away now, the trust is still partly yours.

Old plot-holders' children and grandchildren are written to once a year in the Christmas dispatch. Sign up below to receive it.
